25 Ways to Show Gratitude During "A Week of Thanks" (and Beyond!)

Join us in expressing appreciation for the people, organizations, and businesses that make a difference in the communities of Franklin County for A Week of Thanks from November 14-18, 2022.

As we head into the holiday season, we are taking some time to thank our neighbors who make a difference in the communities of Franklin County every day. We invite you to join us in A Week of Thanks and brighten someone's day, week, or even year by letting them know how much you appreciate them.

Our hope is that the community members of Franklin County will perform at least one act of kindness each day and inspire others around them to do the same.

25 Ways to Show Gratitude:

  1. Offer to pick up groceries for a neighbor.

  2. Send anonymous flowers to a friend or family member.

  3. Grab coffee for a co-worker on your way to work.

  4. Write a 5-star review for your server, customer service worker, or locally-owned small business.

  5. Leave your server or barista a generous tip.

  6. Volunteer for a nonprofit organization in your community.

  7. Leave a note of appreciation to your mail/package carrier at your mailbox/door.

  8. Bring a baked treat to your office or your child’s school.

  9. Smile and say “hello” to strangers you pass.

  10. Write inspirational messages on your sidewalk with chalk.

  11. Let someone go ahead of you in line.

  12. Hide kindness rocks around your favorite park or walking trail.

  13. Organize a potluck with your neighbors.

  14. Send a care package to a service member.

  15. Bring treats to your first responder station.

  16. Mow your neighbor’s lawn, rake their leaves or sweep their sidewalk as a surprise.

  17. Write a thank you note to someone who helped your career.

  18. Donate food items to a local food pantry or food distribution box.

  19. Offer to babysit a neighbor’s child for free.

  20. Return stray shopping carts to the corral.

  21. Write a thank you note to a teacher who made a difference in your life.

These are just a few ideas to get you started! There are are many more ways you can show your appreciation for the caring, generous people who make up our wonderful communities.
