Our annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive is underway. We need your help to connect local students with tools to help them succeed in school!
Many of us are navigating summer vacations, picnics, and barbeques and while the staff at United Way is doing the same, we are also thinking ahead to the beginning of the school year. We know that many of our county schools receive children in August who don’t have the necessary school supplies needed to start off and maintain a successful school year. The United Way’s Annual Stuff the Bus campaign aims to minimize that possibility by collecting school supplies from businesses and community members from July 5 – July 31, 2023. Supplies will be donated to students at all five school districts in Franklin County.
There are five ways to get involved:
Donate Dollars - monetary contributions to Stuff the Bus will be used by United Way to purchase school supplies that help fill gaps in supplies donated by community. Donate online or mail a check made out to United Way of Franklin County, 182 S. 2nd St., Chambersburg, PA 17201, with "Stuff the Bus" in the memo line.
Drop Off Supplies - School supply donations may be delivered through July 31 to United Way's office from 9am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, or to any of the locations on the collection site map. Please check the business's or organization's operating hours before planning your visit.
Online Registry - Use our Target Registry and ship directly to United Way's address (saved in the registry). To designate your donation to a specific school district, write the name of the district in the “Gift Message” while checking out.
Stop by the School Bus - Visit United Way's "Stuff the Bus" school bus at one of these upcoming community events. Bring school supply donations or donate dollars at the events.
July 7 – Greencastle Trade Days, 12-7
July 8 – Fannettsburg Fest, 12pm-dusk
July 10 – Marion w/the Book Mobile, 9-11am
July 16 – Mercersburg Food Truck Fest, 11am-4pm
August 10 – Path Valley Parade
Collect as a Team - Organize a school supply donation drive at work, within your church, through a sports team, or any other kind of community group! Collect donations all month long, then bring the donations to United Way's office on August 1st or 2nd. Simply sign up using this form. This is also for businesses who wish to sign up as a Collection Site for the public to drop off donations to your location(s).
We love it when our office fills with school supplies at the beginning of August and how appreciative each school district is when receiving the supplies before the start of the school year! Help us make this the biggest school supply distribution ever by stopping to Stuff the Bus!
