United We Read

United We Read is a literacy engagement program designed to get kids excited about reading. The program sends volunteers, weekly, to summer youth programs in Franklin County to read, lead hands-on activities, and guide meaningful conversations around topics presented in the selected book.
This summer, the program will serve approximately 600 children, giving each a copy of the book. The goal is to bridge the summer reading gap that occurs when youth leave school and reading may drop as a household priority.
"The Area 51 Files" by Julie Buxbaum is this summer's chosen book and created an out of this world adventure, as kids searched for the missing Zdstrammar across communities in Franklin County. Thank you to our Sponsoring Partners and Participating Summer Programs for helping create a universe of readers.
